After listening and reading, I personally feel as if the audio recording didn’t do the play as much justice as I had hoped it would. On the other hand, I will say that both the audio and video create an convincing story. Even without a setting background nor other characters and props, Brenda’s eye expressions and voice draw people into the story and accurately paint a picture of exactly what’s going on. One thing I most noticed with the CD audio was that I could still tell the difference between characters even though they were all voiced by Brenda. She was able to do this not only because each character has a specific dialectic in how they speak, but also just due to her amazing act and voicing skills.
I imagine, based on her other works shown in the videos, that Brenda Wong Aoki wore the typical clothing that derives from the Westside culture and geographic climate. What she wears can help viewers imagination as she tells her story. Although the audio, in my opinion, was not as effective as possibly watching her perform it, she was still able to use it to impactfully portray the story. She also utilizes music to her advantage. Her husband and friends play bass and other instruments to help convey the mood and tone of the event.
